Artisan Dentistry

It is very important to get your dental cleanings on a regular basis. Dental health is just as important as keeping the rest of your body in tip-top shape. In fact, the health of your teeth and gums can impact the rest of your body. It is important to have regular dental cleanings every six months.

Your dentist will tell you that if you ignore your dental cleaning and exams, the rest of your body could suffer. For example, if your gums are inflamed because of bacteria, this could cause hardening of the arteries leading to cardiovascular disease. There are also chemicals that are released into the bloodstream that enter the brain and can cause dementia. This infection that travels through the bloodstream can also reach the respiratory system causing COPD, bronchitis, and pneumonia. Diabetes is much harder to control when you have gum disease. Some people simply avoid going to the dentist because they say they don’t have any pain. By the time you feel the pain, it may be too late to save the tooth.

Preventive techniques are well worth it. With minimal effort in the present, you can eliminate the need for time-consuming and costly treatments in the future. As always, try to eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables. Make sure your toothpaste is fluoride-based. Use a soft bristle brush, as anything harder could damage your teeth. Be sure to floss at least once a day as this helps prevent gum disease. The number one way to keep your teeth healthy is to brush them at least twice a day.
